1. Overview & Scope

This Privacy Policy applies to the JEE Challenger mobile application (the "App") developed by ASN Studios ("we", "our", or "us").

JEE Challenger is an educational companion built to help students prepare for competitive engineering entrance examinations (such as JEE Main and JEE Advanced). We respect your personal privacy and are committed to ensuring our users study without surveillance or privacy intrusion.

2. Information We Do NOT Collect

Unlike many educational platforms, JEE Challenger is designed as a standalone, privacy-preserving utility:

  • No Personal Identifiable Information (PII): We do NOT collect your name, phone number, email address, physical address, or school details.
  • No Mandatory Account Creation: You can practice questions, take full 180-minute CBT exams, and view syllabus topics without registering an account.
  • No Financial Data: We do not ask for or collect debit/credit cards, UPI IDs, or net banking credentials.
  • No Location or Sensor Data: The App does not access GPS, precise/coarse location, camera, microphone, or biometric sensors.

3. Local Device Data Storage

To provide a seamless study experience, the App saves user progress locally on your smartphone via an embedded, high-performance database (Hive):

  • Mock Exam Records: Your selected options, time spent per subject, and final test scorecards.
  • Question Statuses: Questions marked for review, answered questions, and unvisited statuses during CBT simulations.
  • Bookmarks & Saved Items: Formulas, questions, or revision notes you have explicitly saved for offline review.
  • Syllabus Progress: Checklist status (Completed, In Progress, Revision Needed) for JEE chapters.
  • App Preferences: Dark mode / light mode appearance preferences.
Important Note on Local Storage: This data remains strictly in your phone's sandbox storage. It is never uploaded, synced, or transmitted to any external server.

4. Network & Device Permissions

JEE Challenger requests only the bare minimum Android permissions necessary to deliver educational content:

Android Permission Usage & Technical Justification
android.permission.INTERNET Enables the App to load official shift question papers, high-resolution circuit/diagram image crops, and font assets over secure HTTPS.
android.permission.ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE Enables the App to check whether your device is connected to Wi-Fi/Mobile Data so it can gracefully switch to offline cached papers.

The App requests zero dangerous or runtime permissions (no camera, no microphone, no storage management, no location).

5. Third-Party Services

We do not integrate third-party tracking or advertising networks (e.g., Google AdMob, Facebook Audience Network, or analytics brokers). We utilize only essential infrastructure providers:

  • Google Fonts: Open-source typographical font files loaded securely to render mathematical KaTeX symbols and LaTeX formulas cleanly.
  • Content Delivery Network (CDN): Secure HTTPS endpoints utilized solely to deliver static question paper bundles and diagrams.

6. Data Security & Encryption

We apply industry best practices to ensure all communications and local data are protected:

  • All network communications between the App and content distribution endpoints are strictly transmitted over TLS 1.3 / HTTPS encryption.
  • Local database records are confined to Android's sandboxed private application directories, preventing access by other apps installed on your device.
  • The production release build is obfuscated and hardened using Google R8 / ProGuard to prevent unauthorized reverse engineering or code manipulation.

7. Data Retention & User Deletion Rights

Because your practice data is stored entirely on your local device, you possess total control over your information:

  • Resetting Specific Records: You can clear individual test scores or reset syllabus checkmarks directly inside the App.
  • Complete Data Erasure: Go to Settings > Apps > JEE Challenger > Storage > Clear Storage / Clear Data on your Android phone. This instantly permanently erases all local mock tests, scores, and bookmarks.
  • Uninstalling: Uninstalling the App completely removes all local app databases and cached assets from your device.

8. Children's Privacy (Age 13+)

JEE Challenger is designed for secondary school and higher secondary students preparing for competitive entrance examinations (typically aged 13 and above). We do not knowingly solicit or collect personal information from children under the age of 13 in accordance with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and international child safety standards.

9. Official Examination & Government Disclaimer
