Privacy Policy & User Data Safety

Official transparency document for the JEE Counsellor application. Explains how student data is processed, secured, and how you can permanently delete your account at any time.

🛡️ Strict Student Privacy Guarantee: We never sell, rent, or trade student ranks, phone numbers, email addresses, or college preferences to coaching institutions, private colleges, or commercial brokers.

1. Privacy Overview

This Privacy Policy applies to the JEE Counsellor mobile app (Package Name: in.app.counsellor) developed by ASN Studios / Aisht ("we", "us", "our").

We respect your privacy and are committed to complying with Google Play Developer Policies, India's Information Technology (IT) Rules, and international data protection standards.

2. Information We Collect

We only collect data necessary to provide personalized college admission predictions and choice filling lists:

3. How We Use Your Information

To match candidate ranks against official JoSAA 2024–2025 opening & closing ranks (OR-CR).
To provide personalized "Safe", "Good", "Moderate", and "Tough" seat forecasts for IITs, NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs.
To construct and format customized choice filling sheets for JoSAA and CSAB counselling rounds.
To securely manage Pro/VIP pass upgrades via encrypted payment gateway integrations.

4. Third-Party Service Providers

Our application interfaces with trusted third-party providers:

Google Play Services & Firebase: Authentication, cloud database (Firestore), and app distribution. (Google Privacy Policy)
Cloudflare Workers: Secure edge API gateway and proxy. (Cloudflare Privacy Policy)
Razorpay: Secure payment processing for optional pass upgrades. No card or banking numbers are stored on our servers. (Razorpay Privacy Policy)

🗑️ 5. Account & User Data Deletion (Google Play Compliant)

In strict adherence to Google Play's Account Deletion Requirement, you have the absolute right to delete your account, authentication records, and all stored data at any time.

⚠️ Permanent Action: Deleting your account will immediately wipe your saved college preferences, choice filling lists, ranks, and authentication profile. This action cannot be undone.

Method 1: Direct In-App Deletion (Instant)

Open JEE Counsellor App

Launch the app and navigate to the Account tab in the bottom navigation bar.

Locate Account Settings

Scroll down to the Account Management / Danger Zone section.

Tap "Delete Account" & Confirm

Press the red Delete Account button and confirm the prompt. Your user record, Firestore document, and cached sessions are purged instantly.

Method 2: Web & Email Deletion Request (Within 24–48 Hours)

If you have uninstalled the application or cannot access your device, you can request manual deletion by sending an email:

Please specify the email address associated with your registered account. All database records tied to that email will be wiped within 48 hours.

What Data Is Deleted?

Firebase Auth Profile: Email, UID, display name, and login tokens.
User Firestore Record: Saved rank, category, quota, and state filters.
Wishlist & Choice Lists: All custom priority orders and saved colleges.

6. Data Retention Policy

We retain candidate academic metrics and account preferences only for as long as your account is active to maintain your saved lists across sessions.

Upon account deletion, all personal identifiers and user data are purged from our live database immediately. Anonymized statistical logs (such as aggregate query counts without user IDs) and statutory financial transaction records (for tax compliance) may be retained as required by law.

7. Security & Encryption

All network communication between the JEE Counsellor mobile app and our servers/Firebase is encrypted in transit using industry-standard HTTPS / TLS 1.3 protocols. We do not store plaintext passwords on our servers.

8. Age & Children's Privacy

Our app is designed for high school graduates, engineering aspirants, and parents/guardians navigating the JoSAA and CSAB counselling process (Ages 13 and above). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

9. Terms of Service & Statutory Disclaimer

⚠️ Non-Affiliation Disclaimer: JEE Counsellor is an independent counselling guidance and statistical estimation tool. It is NOT affiliated with, authorized by, or endorsed by the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA), Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB), National Testing Agency (NTA), or any Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) / National Institute of Technology (NIT).

All prediction calculations and chance estimates (Safe, Good, Moderate, Tough) are statistical forecasts generated from official public 2024 and 2025 opening & closing ranks. Official counselling and seat allotment happens strictly on josaa.nic.in and csab.nic.in.
